Advantages of B.Sc
Scholarships- Government-funded learning opportunities or scholarships are offered to brilliant students who choose B.Sc courses. The benefits of these courses include beneficial offers such as covering all tuition costs that the student incurs while pursuing the course.
Employment opportunities- The best part of doing a B.Sc degree is good job opportunities in the field of research and development. Strengthening the research and development industry in India is one of the main reasons why the government has provided more lucrative academics to B.Sc graduates.
Exploring opportunities- BSc degrees have good job opportunities. Having said that, BSc students are not only restricted to science-related careers and have the ability to explore other fields such as administration, engineering, law, so on and so forth for both higher education and career opportunities.
Types of B.Sc
A bachelor's degree in science or B.Sc is of two types depending up on the mode of study
Regular
Correspondence
A regular B.Sc degree is one where candidates have to visit the college regularly and a certain minimum percentage of attendance is compulsory.
However, students who can’t go to college on a regular basis due to some reasons can enroll in a B.Sc correspondence program where there is no compulsion for attending college. Students have to visit the college only at the time of practicals and theory examinations.
Also, depending on the specialisation, a B.Sc degree is also divided into two major types namely
B.Sc Honours
B.Sc Pass/ B.Sc General
A B.Sc honours degree is a program that develops advanced theoretical and research skills leading to specialization in one of the subjects studied during the entire degree course. The honours programs are taken by students who wish to pursue Master of Science (M.Sc) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and a research or academic career. For example, B.Sc Botany, B.Sc Zoology, B.Sc Biotechnology.
A B.Sc general or B.Sc pass or simply "B.Sc" is an academic degree designed to provide the students with foundation knowledge possible for a science-based career. For example, B.Sc Biology, B.Sc Physics, B.Sc Chemistry.
B.Sc Eligibility
Students seeking admission to B.Sc degree are required to fulfill some basic requirements before they get admission in any institutes. The requirements are listed below
Students need to have passed/studying in class 12 or its equivalent exam from any recognised institution.
Some institutions also have restrictions on minimum percentage requirements ranging from 50 to 60% while many institutes require just a pass class in class 12.

Students belonging to reserved categories are provided with relaxations in percentage and age.
Besides the above-mentioned basic requirements, there are course-specific requirements. For example, students seeking admission in B.Sc Biology/Biotechnology must have studied Biology as one of the subjects in class 12. Similarly, for admission to B.Sc Mathematics, students need to have Mathematics as one of the subjects in class 12. There are also some B.Sc courses which are open to all science and Mathematics candidates irrespective of their subjects like B.Sc in economics or management. Students can check the requirement for admission to any specific institute from its admission portal.
There are some specifically designed courses as per the requirement in certain fields like B.Sc in Geology, B.Sc in Marine Biology. Admission to these courses is based on strict medical requirements besides academic and age eligibility conditions.
B.Sc Admissions
Admission to B.Sc course is offered through entrance exams conducted by the concerned institutes/university. There are also some entrance exams that are conducted collectively to offer admission in a large number of institutes like CUCET conducted for admission in 14 central universities. Some institutes also offer admission on the basis of marks obtained in class 12 and do not conduct any entrance exams. Delhi University admits students in B.Sc programs in all its affiliating colleges through merit based on marks in class 12.
