The admission procedure for top colleges in India is based on various modes of process; most of the institutions give admission based on entrance exams such as CUET/GATE/JEE Main/JEE Advance/ Institute or State Entrance Exams/GMAT rank and their cut off. Students have to select the college and branch at their respective centres.
Admission to the particular branch of study is decided by the Joint Admission Committee.
Seat allotment will be given on various parameters like category that candidate belongs to, number of seats availability, weightage of marks, and etc.
Students need to pay admission fee and report acceptance of appointment to confirm the admission.
The seat allotment is given based on performance in above-mentioned rounds, and other factors like 10+2 or 10+2+3 or 4 and degree marks, work experience, reservation policy, and academic merit can also be considered in the admission process. Seat allotment gets confirmed only after paying the admission fee.
The MHRD under the Minister of Education, Government of India has established the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), which framed an approach to rank higher education institutions in India in a variety of disciplines such as Engineering, Medical, Universities, government-private colleges and in other categories.
