    Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee was established in 1948.     IIT Roorkee Admissions 

    The college provides admissions to undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses. The admissions to various courses at IIT Roorkee are based on the marks secured by the candidate in the entrance examination.     Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee trains students to help them to become industry-ready professionals and compete at the global level, and these efforts are reflected in high IIT Roorkee placement numbers. The graduates of IIT are capable enough to think unconventionally in new situations. The recruiter network built by IIT Roorkee has proven to be a valuable asset. With the legacy of more than 70 years and the amount of training given to students in their specialisations and an active IIT Roorkee placement cell, the institute constantly pushes students to develop their technical, managerial and leadership qualities. 

    Summer internships ranging from 1 to 2 month period (6 to 8 weeks) provide training in reputed organisations for undergraduate students. Postgraduate students undergo a similar but longer 6 to 12-month industry research project. The students have an IIT Roorkee placement cell that emphasises on developing the institute industry partnership. The alumni and the role they play in the global scenario have put another feather on the achievements hat in terms of IIT Roorkee placements.     1. Pre-Placement Offers: The process is carried out in September to enough time and they need to be informed by mid-September so that the students can be shortlisted much in advance.

    3. Backlogs: If company want to filter out students with backlogs it can avail that condition, 

    4. Bond: Bond requirement needs to be clearly specified for anybody joining the company post placement. pre assessment test

    6. Medical test and Visa: The recruiter specifies so that the student does not have any issues for international offers made.

    IIT Roorkee Post-placement 

    1. Key details: Information needs to be available regarding date of joining, location, salary structure and deviations if any. 

    2. Deviations: If changes are made for the package, job position, withdrawal or anything else, the placement cell needs to be informed of how the changes are being administered by the company.

    IIT Roorkee Placement Process: The placement process is divided into three phases. 

    1. Phase 1: The company and placement cell takes care of shortlisting pre-placement talks, visits and also offers internships. 

    2. Phase 2: For conducting the interviews, the students apply for the company’s available position. The company uses the students’ resumes and negotiates the appropriate dates with the Placement Cell. 

    3. Phase 3: Students are selected for the appropriate job profile and selections are based on the interview process and assessments. Selected students are offered job letters or offers of employment.

    IIT Roorkee Placement Fast Facts

    As per the IIT Roorkee summer placement report for the Department of Management Studies 2020-22 batch, companies from diverse domains participated and provided internships to students. A total of 36 companies participated and provided students with 107 offers. The batch strength was 71, out of which 43 students were freshers with no prior work experience. The average stipend and highest stipend offered were Rs. 50,160 and Rs. 1,80,000 respectively.

    Furthermore, the IIT Roorkee placement report for the Department of Management Studies 2019-21 batch reflects, 41 companies participate in the IIT Roorkee placement drive. Out of 41 companies, 31 were first-time participants. The students were offered roles in different sectors such as operations, consulting, marketing & sales, etc. The highest package offered was Rs. 19,00,000. Students were offered job profiles such as Project Manager, Associate Consultant, data analyst, business development analyst etc.

    IIT Roorkee Admission Process: M.Tech/ M.Arch 

    • The candidate must meet IIT Roorkee eligibility criteria to apply for the courses.

    • The candidates must qualify GATE.

    • The candidate can apply for a maximum of 4 departments but the selected candidates will be offered IIT Roorkee admission only in one programme depending on their preference and merit. 

    • Regular B.Tech. degree holders from the IITs with CGPA > 8 and Sponsored students with relevant experience and written test/ interview are exempted from the GATE examination.

    • Then the candidates have to register in Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) and seats are allotted based on the students' performance in the entrance test.

    IIT Roorkee M.B.A Admission Process

    • The candidate has to meet IIT Roorkee eligibility criteria to apply for the courses.

    • The candidate has to appear and qualify CAT.

    • IIT Graduates admitted through JEE Advanced with CGPA 7 and above are exempted from CAT. The selection is made based on the interview.

    • The candidates must meet IIT Roorkee eligibility criteria to apply for the courses.

    • The Shortlisted candidates will be called for an Aptitude test and Personal Interview.

    • Provisional admissions are provided based on aggregate performance.

    • Then, the candidate has to pay full IIT Roorkee fees by the date mentioned in the provisional letter.

    • IIT Roorkee M.Des admissions are done in multiple rounds and admissions offers are provided to the students by mail.

    IIT Roorkee M.Sc. Admission Process

    • The candidates must meet IIT Roorkee eligibility criteria to apply for the courses.

    • The candidate must qualify GAT-B for the admission in M.Sc. ( Biotechnology) and for the departments other than Biotechnology the candidate must qualify JAM.

    • Then the selected candidates must register themselves and  should report to the concerned Head of the Department and submit the joining report.

    Candidates from institutions other than Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) must have a B. Tech., B. Arch., or B. Pharm. degree or an equivalent degree along with a minimum GATE/GPAT/NET score of 7.50 on a scale of 10, or 75% of the total marks, regardless of the category. The minimum CGPA requirement for graduates from CFTIs is lowered to 7.0 on a scale of 10, which is equivalent to 70% of the grade.

    IIT Roorkee Ph.D Admission Process 

    • The candidates must meet IIT Roorkee eligibility criteria to apply for the courses.

    • The candidate must qualify UGC NET including lectureship and GATE or National Level Examinations conducted by MHRD and its Agencies and Institutes.

    • Candidates in ISERS or P-ISIRS or P-ISERS category, Bachelor or Masters from IITs with a CGPA 8.0 and above on 10 scale point scale, MBBS / BDS degree from an Indian Universities / Institution shall have a minimum CGPA of 6.0 on a 10 point scale, or 60% in the qualifying degree, irrespective of the category, Master of Surgery (MS)/ Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from an Indian University / Institute,  are exempted from  GATE / GPAT / JRF / NET score.

    • Candidates with Master’s programmes in Engineering or Architecture / Planning in

    IIT Roorkee with CGPA of 8.50 or above, shall have a choice of lateral entry to the Ph.D. programmes after completing the first two semesters of the Master’s programmes.

    Merit-cum- means scholarship is offered to a quarter number of students (25%) enrolled in the programme. Bank loans are available and along with scholarships provided to people belonging to general and reserved categories.     • The candidate must meet IIT Roorkee eligibility criteria to apply for the courses.

    • The candidates must qualify GATE.

    • The candidate can apply for a maximum of 4 departments but the selected candidates will be offered IIT Roorkee admission only in one programme depending on their preference and merit. 

    • Regular B.Tech. degree holders from the IITs with CGPA > 8 and Sponsored students with relevant experience and written test/ interview are exempted from the GATE examination.

    • Then the candidates have to register in Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) and seats are allotted based on the students' performance in the entrance test.

    • The candidates must meet IIT Roorkee eligibility criteria to apply for the courses.

    • The Shortlisted candidates will be called for an Aptitude test and Personal Interview.

    • Provisional admissions are provided based on aggregate performance.

    • Then, the candidate has to pay full IIT Roorkee fees by the date mentioned in the provisional letter.
