What is Mechanical Production Engineering?
Mechanical Production Engineering is the further branch of Mechanical Engineering that deals with the management as well as manufacturing technology. The course of Mechanical Production Engineering involves creating new designs, analyzing the quality of products, planning a product along with its management, i.e. deals with the sales of the product. The main focus of the Mechanical Production Engineering course is to meet the requirements of the people and design the product accordingly. Mechanical Production Engineers work in all those industries that involve manufacturing activities. They are accountable for monitoring the product in the industry.
There are many reputed institutes in India that offer courses in Mechanical Production Engineering. This field provides diversification of work where one has to keep the product details and the quality considerations in mind. In fact, many national and state-level exams have been conducted for admissions in prestigious universities or institutes for Mechanical Production Engineering course.
Eligibility Criteria for Mechanical Production Engineering at Different Levels
It is mandatory to follow the eligibility criteria of Mechanical Production Engineering course otherwise even if the candidates have qualified for the examination, but can’t fulfill any of the minimum requirements then their admission will be terminated, and other strict actions will be taken towards them.
Candidates must have completed 10+2 level with the minimum percentage of 55-60% generally. It may vary from one institute to another.
The students should belong to PCM field, i.e. Physics, Chemistry and Maths. Students from any other stream are not eligible to appear for the same.
Apart from that, candidates need to appear in various national or state level entrance examinations and should prepare for these exams well in advance.
A different cut off list will be prepared by the institutes based on the entrance exam and percentage at 12th standard.
It is crucial to have the basic knowledge of the concepts that are studied at the graduation level as many entrance exams are conducted that check the basic concepts of the candidates at graduation level.
Maintaining a good CGPA or percentage in graduation will help in a long way. But the minimum percentage should be around 60%.
Many exams are conducted for postgraduate courses in Mechanical Production Engineering, and thus candidates should score well in those exams as well.

Hope It Helps you
All the best for your future
Dear Aspirant,
Congratulations for cracking the JEE main examination.
Now you can not understand, wheather to choose mechanical engineering or Electronics and communication engineering. Which branch is better...But you have interest in physics.
According to me, if you have hurry for a good job after completion of your b.tech and if you want a handsome package in campusing you can opt for Electronics and communication engineering.
But if you wants to apply your interest of physics in your graduation degree then you can opt for mechanical engineering. It is a core branch and one of the oldest branch of engineering.
But now campusing scope is lesser in mechanical engineering.
Now it depends on you. Go ahead.
So best of luck.

The main objective of this course is to make you a good "PROCESS ENGINEER, PLANT MANAGER, QUALITY INSPECTOR, PRODUCT DESGINER" with emphasis given on designing, operations, tooling
It's not same as that of Mechanical Engineering
Tough the 2nd year is somewhat similar but from third year the course becomes fully practical.
And in final year you have only 1 semester unlike mechanical and other branches where you have 2 semesters in your final year
One semester is for a 6 month long inplant training in an industry
And since many Mechanical engineering graduates are doing their masters in Industrial/production Engineering so this means that this branch has so much to offer.
